The company was founded in 1939 by the Thompson Family in the Vaal Triangle. We have followed a progressive growth cycle over the last seven decades and have evolved from a company that focussed on the provision of security officers to a full security provider. The same values on which the company were founded are still entrenched through the founding family’s continued involvement on both a strategic and operational level.
The Thompsons Security Group has taken a pro-active stance to economic development, particularly towards Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment. A strategic decision was undertaken in 2002 that gave expression to this commitment in the formation of Thompsons Khusela.
The structure was a true empowerment scheme as it granted long serving employees within the company an interest in a newly formed company with very little exposure to risk with the Thompsons Family, providing the infrastructure, financial backing and continued mentorship.
